Vieques is 21 miles (34 kilometres) long and about four miles (seven kilometres) wide. A few cross-island roads and separate beach approaches make short distances take longer than they look.

  1. Two visitor bases Use Isabel Segunda for the ferry and errands. Choose Esperanza for the beach run and bio bay tours.
  2. Roads connect the island Take PR-997 between the two towns. Use PR-200 and PR-201 for trips east or west.
  3. Beaches run south and east Start at Sun Bay, then continue east to Caracas and La Chiva on designated refuge roads.
  4. Refuge access changes Refuge land covers both ends of Vieques. The eastern former range remains restricted during cleanup.
